How To  Fix a Hole  in a Wood Door

There are different types of wooden doors. Some are made of solid wood and others are hollow inside.

Hollow wood doors  are a relatively new concept. As the name suggests, these doors have a cavernous center that makes them lighter, cheaper, easier to  install, and faster to manufacture.

How to  Repair Hollow Wood Doors

Prepare Your Workspace

Leave the door attached to its hinges for this repair process. Cover your floor and any other surfaces with some tarp or old newspaper.

Prepare the Hole

Dress the hole in the door by removing any sharp edges with something sharp and placing newspaper along the inside of the hole.

Fill the Hole

Get a can of expansion foam and spray it into the hole as slowly as possible then allow the foam to set between 10 to 30 minutes.

Seal and Cover the Hole

Use a putting knife to smear autobody filler over the surface of the hole. Smooth out the surface with and apply some spackle.
